CenturyLink is actively making choices to lessen our impact on the environment, while offering our customers solutions that enable them to do the same. Our goal is to help ensure the long-term health of our environment, joining with consumers and businesses who are focusing on ways to promote and practice the intelligent use of resources.
Through our involvement in efforts ranging from environmental stewardship to community investment, we further our commitment to improve lives by being a good citizen and neighbor in the communities where we work and live.
CenturyLink improves lives, strengthens businesses and connects communities by delivering advanced technologies and solutions with honest and personal service. While we recognize the benefits that our services bring to our customers, we are also mindful of the impacts our actions may have on the environment.
Reducing environmental impact requires a thoughtful approach, balancing the needs of our employees, customers, shareholders and the environment. We believe that a balanced approach means supporting the financial health of our business while ensuring environmental sustainability efforts support the quality of service we offer our customers and the value we create for our shareholders and our communities.
CenturyLink has adopted the following objectives to inform and drive our environmental sustainability efforts.
CenturyLink is committed to environmental stewardship. We will strive to incorporate environmental sustainability principles and practices throughout our operations as we work to serve our customers and our communities.
Through the implementation of the Environmental Sustainability Council, CenturyLink [CE1] has facilitated collaboration across the company with the goal of identifying and implementing actionable "greening" initiatives. This council, which began in 2007, aims to reduce CenturyLink's carbon footprint and evaluate the ongoing economic feasibility of our green initiatives.
For the past eight years, CenturyLink has submitted its carbon inventory to the Carbon Disclosure (CDP). The CDP is an independent, not-for-profit organization that aims to create an ongoing relationship and meaningful dialogue between shareholders and corporations about the implications of climate change.
Partnering with other industries, groups and communities is imperative when it comes to environmental sustainability. That's why CenturyLink has joined forces with others on many of its initiatives.
